UK membership of the EU
The UK tried to join the EU back in the 1960s but France kept vetoing.
In 1973 the UK finally joined alongside Ireland and Denmark.
Membership of the UK has significance for every business in the UK even if that business only trades withint the UK itself and does not trade with other EU countries.
Key areas that a business needs to be aware of:
- EU Directives in relation to products and services
- Working Time Directive
- Freedom of movement.
